Claire is in town

My dear friend and former occasional FLAK poster, Claire , is in Utah for the holidays and looking to meet up with some of her old RfM and FLAK friends. Due to travel difficulties which caused schedule diffuculties, the best remaining date for a get together is next Tuesday, the 23rd.

We were thinking about lunch at JCW's at Thanksgiving Point, at about noon. I apologize for the late notice and poor scheduling choices. Feel free to discuss better options in the thread. But keep in mind that she came all the way from London and won't be back very soon.

See you Tuesday, I hope.

P.S. Claire used to post as Pheobe, and currently posts on RfM as Claire Ferguson.

Gudday mates! Meet me at Wallabys!

Next Thursday, November 6, we will be meeting at Wallabys Smokehouse BBQ which is located in Lindon on 131 South State Street. Click on the link above for directions/map.

12:30 PM it is. Unless you have a better idea.

They've got super smashed potatoes and I think they taste better than Goodwood. Cheaper too!

If you can join us, please RSVP with me at biggreenhugs@gmail.com or respond to this thread and I'll count ya in.

See ya there!

Olive Garden with Torenn

Our perpetually out-of-town friend Torenn will be available for lunch this Friday, and I, for one, will be taking advantage of this opportunity. Here is her post.

Hey, Trying to get some people together for lunch on friday at Olive Garden
in SLC downtown. Anyone interested? Kids are welcome - my son will
probably be along with me.

The Olive Garden is on the corner of West Temple and 200 south, and the
current plan is to meet at noon.

Come one, come all.

Denny's in October

Hi everyone,

With the conference coming into town, we're doing a broad invite to the Denny's lunch which will be held Oct 17, Fri, 11:30 am.

The address is 250 West 500 South, SLC. Dianne is taking a headcount, so if you would like to join the group, please RSVP to dormond22@hotmail.com.

This would be an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow (wo)men that are coming from out of town!

Big green hugs,

Froggie

Brothers and Sisters, we need your help with a welfare project.

Our beloved Sister CreatureofHabit is suffering from cabin fever, and needs a chance to get out of the house and speak to adults. You can help her in her time of trial by coming to lunch this Wednesday, the 24th, at Applebee's in Bountiful. The good news is that no one will need to bake a casserole, and we don't anticipate the need for a priesthood blessing to cure her ills.

Come and partake. We'll see you at noon.

( p.s. if you need to make different arrangements, leave comments, as usual)

Please email or call or PM me or whatever to let me know if you would like to come and if you would like to carpool (if you are coming from Utah county).

BBQ to die for.

It's been far too long since we did a lunch. Far too long. There is a new chick on NOM that wants to meet NOMs so let's get together and show her a good time.

Since next week is the 24th, I would like to do lunch on Tuesday the 22nd, to accommodate people who will be gone for the 24th. (Principally me.) Furthermore, I would like to propose Pat's BBQ downtown. It is, by far, the most authentic barbecue joint in the city. I was there a few days ago and it wasn't packed, but if we are expecting a crowd, we would probably want to go at 11:45 to get a table together.

Fencesitter, welcome. The rest of you, post your suggestions and rsvps in the comments.

Hey Folks.

So sorry about the extended vacation from lunch planning. It's been a dramatic few weeks for me, and I don't have a co-host in NOMishness, so I took some time off.

Nevertheless, I need to let everyone know about a lunch this Friday. One of the regulars over on NOM, Lleno de Preguntas, was looking for a lunch date this week, and Josephine came up with this.

OK. Here are the details for the lunch on Friday (June 20th). We will plan on meeting at noon at the Desert Edge Brewery/The Pub at Trolley Square. I will be there and give the name "Josephine" so just ask for me.
For those of you unfamiliar, this is on the west side of Trolley Square, but I would warn you that the parking garage on that side is being rebuilt, so you have to park south or north of The Pub.

So far, a few of my favorite people are already confirmed. Sounds like loud laughter is assured.

BTW, Lleno may need a ride from Provo. Leave a comment if you can oblige.

Taylorsville Park

We're switching it up a bit this week. CALM and the YA group want to do a combined gathering, so I'm cut-n-pasting from Suburban Girl's post. This is convenient for me in the likely event that I am in Idaho that weekend.

There is a great park in Taylorsville that I thought we could head out to next. It's on 4700s Redwood, and it has a skate park as well as grass and playgrounds, so I was thinking that for the next gathering we could co-ordinate with the CALM and SLCNomLunch groups and have a big shindig there. I'm looking at April 26th at noon. That's not a holiday weekend, and I know I'll be able to make it, so I think it meets the basic requirements.

I was also thinking we should call this an "open" event, meaning that people can bring their families, and we can all hang out together getting drunk on root beer. For food we can all bring a beverage of our choice, give a $3.00 donation, and send a runner for pizza (or have it delivered, I like that idea even better!).

Let me know if you have and suggestions or ideas!

Looking forward to seeing everyone's smiling faces there!

Davis County - ish

I promised several people that we would do a lunch north of Salt Lake. That was supposed to happen this week, but things didn't work out that way... So I'm starting a little earlier this week, and hoping for the best.

Here are my thoughts so far. Miss Frog has suggested the Prairie Schooner restaurant in Ogden. I think that might be a little too far north, but I might be wrong. What do you folks up north think?

As far as dates go, I was thinking next Tuesday or Wednesday, the 15th or 16th.

I really need lots of input from you folks on this one. Alas? GypsyD? Let's hear your thoughts.

Utah County

The lunch at the Training Table was small, but satisfying. I had the chili cheese dog. MMmm...

OK, I promised a lunch in Utah county for this week. Kurskorahn suggested Tuesday or Thursday. I'm thinking Thursday would be better, to give us enough time to arrive at consensus.
I was also contemplating Wallaby's in Lindon. I love that place. I don't know how the rest of you UC people feel about that though. Is it too far North? Also, I heard they had closed and reopened, so now I'm nervous. If someone could drive by there and see if they are still open, that would be cool.

Or we could come up with another idea, but I don't know how it would be better than pulled pork and cheesy garlic potatoes.

What say you all?

Spring Break Lunch

Lunch today was just about perfect. Lets do it again.

Like this week, I would like to throw out some ideas, hear lots of comments and make a final decision a day or two before lunch.

Since Kurskorahn mentioned next Friday (the 28th), let's go with that. Until someone comes up with a better idea, I'll suggest the Training Table out by the E Center.

A few thoughts about future meetings.

I'd like to make the lunches frequent enough so that we won't feel so awful if we miss one. If that happens, then I'm guessing we will average about 8 people at each lunch, which makes it a LOT easier to find a venue that is cheap and in many cases doesn't require reservations. We can do a bigger party when someone we all know and love comes to town. (I'm looking at you, Dathon)
I'm not anxious to expand to dinners or to Davis or Utah county, since I think that is territory that is already covered by the CALM folks. Nevertheless, Dianne tends to disagree, so I suppose we could consider it.

I used a whole lot of first person in the previous paragraph. Tell me what you think. About next week, and the weeks after that.

Quick turnaround lunch

As a quick introduction to what I'm up to here, I'll just say that I intend to build a meeting place where NOMs in the Salt Lake area can plan and discuss regular meetings. I've chosen lunches, because there are a great number of NOMs who can get away for lunch without having to explain to spouses. Eventually I would like to facilitate dinners as well, and expand north and south, but for today, we will start with having a regular lunch in Salt Lake.

I'll start by suggesting a place and time, and all of you people can recommend changes in the comments section. If things don't work out, don't worry. In the last 5 months, we've met at least 5 times and managed to collect 10-15 people each time. There will be plenty of opportunities for us all to meet.

Let's get started.

I'd like to meet in the south end of the valley this week. I'm thinking of the restaurants at Southtowne. How about Village Inn, or T.G.I. Fridays, or maybe La Frontera or The Training Table across the street. Noon seems to work out most of the time, but if you would like to meet a little earlier or later, speak up.

Now it's your turn, folks. I'm having lunch at Southtowne on Thursday, with you or without you.
